Bacchus Cherry Beer is brewed using Bacchus Flemish Old Brown as a base. This cherry beer surprises with a slight touch of caramel from the roasted malt. Bacchus Cherry Beer offers a beautiful balance between the aromas of ripe cherries and the sweet and sour of the base beer.

Green 37.5cl bottle, wrapped in paper, best before 14th Apr 2011, drank and enjoyed 24th Jan 2010. Poured into a Westmalle chalice. Dark cherry red body, with an off-white, pinkish wispy covering on top. Bakewell tart with extra cherries in the smell, nothing else could get past the cherries. The taste is all cherry too, just like the aroma. Some kriekbeers are really sweet, others really sour, this leans towards the sweeter end. It isn’t a syrup, sickly special though, but it is on the sweet side. I’ve had both types and this is most likely the best Kriek I’ve had the pleasure of having so far. I don’t know if it is made with whole cherries or a syrup and I don’t care, it tastes and feels good.

Clear redy body ith a slightly off-white-red head. Aroma or red candy. Heavily sweet, lightly bitter flavour. Way too sweet.

Reddish brown beer, off-white head. Aroma of sweet cherries, light malts, light marzipan. Flavour quite sweet, cherries, lightly sour. Light sweet and sour finish. Quite OK, much better than the Bacchus Framboise imho.

Great color, nice dark brown with a deep dark red glare coming through. Smell is almost the opposite. Kind of artificial, chemical sour smell. Taste artificial and sour as well. Medium carbo.

Tasted this in a tasting session with representative Koen. Pretty decent kriek (sour ale if you want), not really my style though. Didn’t like the smell. Positively surprised by the taste.

(bottle, 37.5cl) Clear, ruby amber colour with a thick and off-white, slightly pinkish foamy head. Slightly sugary cherry-fruity aroma with a light mouldy touch. Sweet and slightly acidic flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Intensively cherry-fruity taste with a delicate malt-character in the background; sweet and sour-fruity, also slightly tart finish. I prefer the Bacchus Frambozenbier. 16.VI.11

Pours ruddy dark amber with some off-white bubbles. Smells like sweetened cooking cherries. Flavor is cherry. It is rather sweet, though somewhat tart. The sweet/tart aspect isn’t working for me.

0.375l bottle shared with with ClubGonzo. Pours a deep red/purple body with a small pink head. Aroma is slightly sweet with artificial cherries, wet grass and what I'm told is almond-extract. Body is medium and carbonation is low. Taste is of course dominated by white heart cherries with a hint of lime. Sweet finish and slightly yeasty. Not to sweet, but it's enough with one glass.
