An amber colored ale, Black Isle Red Kite is brewed using only the highest quality Maris Otter pale and crystal malts for flavor and body. Challenger hops for bittering with the late addition of Styrian Goldings creates a balance of quenching citrus and malt, and a classic aromatic finish to this refreshing ale. This beer is bright amber with a toasted nut flavor and powerful orange fruit aroma.

Bottle courtesy of Nick. shared at Nick and Anna’s, Quidish, South Harris, Monday 15th June 2015 Pours reddy/brown with an off-white head. Malty and fruity but rather indistinct beer, in fact a rather boring effort from a producer who I thought usually did much better. Nothing wrong with it but at the same time very little right with it. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

Light brown colour. Floral, fruity and malty. The depth of flavour and bitter versus sweet balance are excellent. Great session bitter.

Big beige head. Clear deep red body. Perfumy orange zest aroma with earthy caramelly notes. Dryish earthy metallic orange zest taste with mealy fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry mealy fruity aftertaste with floral wooden notes. It’s OK, but a bit perfumy and one-dimensional. (0.5l bottle, from Meny Oslo City.)

Bottle purchased from Ocado, drunk at home. Russet with little to medium off-white head. Lots of carbonation. Peppery and slightly resinous hop aroma. Fruity bitter with a touch of sweetness in the taste. The finish and aftertaste are more bitter, with redcurrant notes and a bit of cooking chocolate. Pretty darn tasty.

Bottle. Aroma marshmallows, caramel, light coffee. Earthy spicy hops. Balanced. Taste is plain and straight-forward. A bit mild, but never mind. Pleasant caramel, light hops. Well balanced, extremely easily drinkable. Really good session stuff.
