A grist of Pale, Munich, Oats & Roasted Malts create a dry toasted cocoa and coffee base for this Porter. We also made sure any contribution from the roasted malts was held in check by the sticky pine character we got from whirlpool and FV additions of Chinook, Cascade & Centennial hops.

30/4/2018. Keg at Bierrex Smoke and Taphouse, Newcastle. Pours very dark brown with a ruby red tint and a small beige head. Aroma of hop, malt, dark fruits, pine, milk chocolate and light coffee. Medium sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, bit above average carnation. Aside from being a bit to fizzy, really good.

Keg at the Rake, 14/02/18. Light black with a lasting beige cap. Nose is earthy hops, burnt toffee, roasted tones, touch of pine, liquorice. Taste comprises pine resin, mixed tropicana, dried fruits, perfumed tones, mellow roast Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with juicy hop bitterness. Solid stuff for the ABV ... CDA all the way for me if I'd blind tasted this one !

On tap at The Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Well it's dark almost black. Lasting tan head. Very light chocolate aroma. Light chocolate in mouth with a little bitterness on the finish like dark chocolate bitterness. Dry roasty malt. It's ok but a little too burnt and roast.
