Location: Tap at Blind Tiger, 5/9/10

Aroma: Roasted malts, dry hops, nuts, and earth
Appearance: Pours a hazy brownish-amber color
Flavor: The taste is decent, with a light malty flavor leading the way
Palate: The body is a touch thin, and it has a rather smooth mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This was a decent brown, but it was a bit on the watery side, and somewhat dull.

Brown-maroon liquid with a foamy head. Good aroma. Nutty, hoppy and brown sugar malt. Good drinking brown ale. It has a classic brown ale flavor that is nutty and chocolatey with a good balance between sweet and bitter. Smooth, easy on the palate and well-carbonated. Very easy to drink. Excellent for a stronger session beer.

Bomber. Certainly is brown enough... a nice stained mahogany color with a little bit of light coming through and a big sudsy head. Aromas are perfumy and sweet... almost a lilac like sweet floral edge to them, a bit of apples and sugar. Flavor is also a little odd... quite a bit of fruit and floral sweetness and then a bit of darkness in the back portion. Weird stuff...

Bottle - thanks odeed. Truely a brown pour with a large, creamy tan head. The aroma is rich with roastiness, chocolate, nuts, and toffee. The taste up front is aggressively hopped, even a little sour... finishs a little lighter with some roast and faint chocolate. No cohesion from initial sip to finish. Odd.

Draught at the Horse Brass. Dark brown, almost black, with lace. Candy sweet, fruity nose. Caramel and fruit flavors, no hops detected. Strongly sour and very sweet as well. Molasses, syrupy, not well balanced. Is this somehow aiming for a Belgian Oud Bruin? Or is it just too old?

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Tan head with good retention leaves spiders as it slowly recedes. Chocolate and dark caramel aromas. Crisp with molasses upfront and slightly smoked brown sugar finish.

Malty sweet backbone with an odd hop profile that didn’t work for me. I thought it was the Hop Head Red and thought something was seriously wrong with the beer. Unbalanced and certainly didn’t want more than the sample I had/

22oz bottle-pours a rocky to thin light brown head and dark brown/red color. Aroma is sweet dark malt-brown sugar. Taste is good citrus (cascade?) hops, dark fruit, dark malt-cocoa powder, some citrus/metallic hops. Thin. Thanks decaturstevo for sharing.

Draught. Poured dark browh with foamy head. Sweet sugary malty aroma. Some soapiness in the flavour, with a molasses and malt smack once the soapiness had departed. Light sweet finish. A good tribute to Pete Brown.

Pour is a brown with a tan head. Aroma is of sweet malts and a nice molasses and caramel combo. Flavor has a touch of chocolate with some more molasses and brown sugar. Bear Republic does make a tasty brew and pretty cheap at only $4 for a bomber. This is a great example of how a brown ale should taste.
