Draft, dark chocolate, some mild hops. More like a porter than a brown ale but who’s counting. Oh wait, I am.

Fra fat på Bishops Arms Kiruna 30 Apr 16 i hyggelig selskap. Ultradyp brun. Lavt filmskum. Aroma av malt & sjokolade. Smaken behagelig. Litt karamell med innblanding av harpiks. Blir tørr etter hvert.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear copper with a filmy white head. The nose is just all soap/cleaner, maybe a little toast. Light to medium sweet flavor with some bready malts, caramel, more cleaner, astringency. Light bodied with average carbonation. Astringent soapy finish. Something is not right here.

Draught at Bear Republic. Clear deep copper liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of toast, citrus, washing up liquid, grain and earth. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of washing up liquid, grain and earth. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Weird as hell.

On tap. Aroma is rather malty with some burnt sugar, toasted bread, caramel and toffee. Doesn’t smell overly sweet. Medium citrus and pine resin hop notes. Pours a dark brown with a moderately sized, thick, creamy, tan head that slowly recedes leaving behind nice lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet with some light lingering sweetness. Medium light burnt sugar notes, some toasted bread and hints of caramel and toffee. Faint roast and medium nuttiness. Medium bitterness with medium light citrus and pine resin hop notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice brown all but it could use a bit more hop character. Nice malt notes that don’t make it too sweet.
