On tap, labeled as simply "Bear Republic Brown Ale." Pours brown with an off-white head. Has a roasted aroma with some light coffee. Flavor combines dark fruit, coffee, rather roasty, with hop hints and a crisp palate. Quite a nice brown ale.

This brew is a very dark brown color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt and nuts. Medium body with a sweet chocolatey character and notes of malt, roasted nuts and mild coffee. The finish is malty with a lightly bitter coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottled, from Spokane, WA. Mahogany colour, rich firm head. Mild grapefruity nose with salty caramel underneath. Dryish with above medium body and rounded mouthfeel. The mild hoppiness combine well with the roasty malt. Te mluthfeel feels vital and solid. Finishes with balanced bitterness and notes of licorice. Bear Republic always delivers.

Pours a very dark brown, almost black with little white head. Nose is molasses and brown sugar. Taste is pretty much the same. Not all that exciting. Bready brown ale.
