Great stuff. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast with florals, some raisin and a dash of hay. A light dose of citrus and apricot floating around, with hints of smoke. Nicely balanced - certainly hides the alcohol well. Soft carbonation. Bottle.

Bottle. It pours an almost clear body, brown in color and with a small, dense, beige head. The aroma has a faint touch of cellar and alcohol, with dried fruits and caramel. Quite weak, and that goes for the flavor too. Some roasted hints and chocolate, with the alchohol well hidden. The star anise is luckily pretty subdued. Some bitterness towards the end. Full body, with a soft carbonation level. A bit short finish. Overall, a pretty decent one, not bad at all. 131231

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Toffee and anise aromas dry with dark it fruit and chocolate front to back. Lasting bitter earth finish.

How: Bottle.
Where: A store close to the castle in Gent.
Appearance: Dark brown colour with a tan head.
Aroma: Liquorice, dark fruit, roasted malt.
Body: Full bodied with a good carbonation.
Flavour: Dark malt, liquorice, chocolate. Mild, slightly bitter, finish.
Comment: Surprisingly enjoyable. Maybe a boat ride on a warm day isnβt the best place to enjoy it fully, but it still tasted nice.
