Brewed for the early risers, who sacrifice sleep and warmth for a the first meeting of the day aboard a wave to shore.

Added in 2013 to the Port Brewing year-round lineup, Board Meeting is an amplified Brown Ale, brewed with liberal additions of coffee from local San Diego roasters, Ryan Brothers and cocoa nibs sourced from famed San Francisco chocolate maker TCHO. Deep coffee flavor gives way to layers of bitter dark chocolate and a creamy vanilla body.

Bomber. Pours a really dark brown hue, looks a lot like a stout with a brown head. A sweet toasted malt and coffee nose. A robust flavor of coffee, milky at times, a deep brown malt base, very smooth with a creamy body. Obviously a big brew. A bit of porter here, but really nutty and dry malts. Tasty. Coffee finish.

22 ounce bottle. Pours opague black with a thick rocky tan head that lasts well thorough the quaff. Aroma of roasted malt with notes of cocoa, coffee and light licorice. Silky roasted malt flavor. Smoked malt, espresso and dark chocolate upfront. Dried fruit, licorice and spicy hops in finish. This is a wonderful example of an amped up West Coat style Brown Ale. Nicely done.

Bomber brought by gorditoabd. Pour has a massive head with a brown body underneath. It’s a leather brown but still lets very little light through. Aromas are subtle, but there is some nice earthiness, a little dark fruit, damp leaves, a hint of chocolate and peat that grows as it airs and warms. Flavor is very nice. Chocolate base and smokey aftertaste are the first things I notice, but it has a pretty creamy mouthfeel and finish.

Growler. Pours with a near black hued body and a retentive tan head that leaves good lace. Aromas are of strong coffee, medium roast, grainy, brown sugar, very toasty, chocolate. Very clean with only a light fruity ester. Flavors show medium roast, coffee, nutty cocoa powder, chocolate. Toasty malt character out weighs the roast in a pleasing way. Medium carbonation, some alcohol heat. Fuller bodied. Very tasty.
