Brewed for the early risers, who sacrifice sleep and warmth for a the first meeting of the day aboard a wave to shore.

Added in 2013 to the Port Brewing year-round lineup, Board Meeting is an amplified Brown Ale, brewed with liberal additions of coffee from local San Diego roasters, Ryan Brothers and cocoa nibs sourced from famed San Francisco chocolate maker TCHO. Deep coffee flavor gives way to layers of bitter dark chocolate and a creamy vanilla body.

Draft pour. Pours black with a faint, nutty aroma. Nutty flavor as well with a long, rich milk chocolate finish. Hints of coffee on the palate as well. Very tasty beer.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a matte black color with a small foamy tan head that faded and left good lacing. The aroma was toasty, woody, very nutty and had a hint of coffee. The flavor was toasty, nutty and a bit woody with hints of bread, dark fruits, toffee and coffee. Long toasty nut, toffee and coffee finish. Nice depth of flavor. Medium body. Quite nice.

Bottle shared by Joes @ weekly tasting. Dark brown to black color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light. Huge a bit soapy beige to slightly light brown colored head that lasts for a long time. Smell and taste malts, coffee, iron, slightly chocolate. Average body, a bit low carbonated. Hmm has potential, but hasn’t quite got it imo.

Bottle bought through Brill & Co. Pours hazy dark reddish brown with a rather big frothy brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is malty with biscuits, toasted cereal, dark roast coffee, bitter cocoa, caramel, soil, wood, alcohol and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, toasted cereal, biscuits, caramel, soil, burnt wood, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, liquorice root, anise seeds and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is round, roasted astringent, soft, malty chewy and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter and malty with biscuits, burnt cookies, wood, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, caramel, liquorice root and soil. Really good actually. Nicely malty with a twist... --- Beer merged from original tick of Board Meeting on 01 Feb 2014 at 00:34 - Score: 8

Location: Draft at Khyber Pass Pub, 11/18/13

Aroma: The nose has lots of chocolate and coffee/roast malts, caramel, and alcohol
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a good sized, frothy brown head and plenty of lace
Flavor: The taste is along the same lines, rich and malty, plenty roasty, with some alcohol too
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has a creamy, slightly sticky feel, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: This is certainly one of the best meetings I can remember. Usually meetings are a waste of time and pretty boring, but this meeting is a quality beer. As far as I am concerned, that's a win.
