Pours a dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, bread, caramel, raisins. Medium sweetness. Nice body, well-balanced bock.

On tap at Arendsnest. Pours a near clear deep amber with a light brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice combination of raisins and bread notes with a touch of dark grains. Flavor is similar and really has a raisin bread note that is backed by dark grains.

Dunkel hefiger, leicht bitterer Antrunk. Leicht bananig, etwas Alkohol. Süßlich, süfig, leicht karamellmalzig. Durchaus in Ordnung aber nichts Besonderes. 10/10/11/10/10/10

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass quite dark, nice head. Starts strong, malty, a bit moldy. Finish with some fruity hints, more balanced, quite dry. Not bad!

Third time lucky maybe. I tried this once from a litre bottle in Liverpool. Then from a two litre bottle in Utrecht. Leaves the old rating beneth. I never fancied this one before. Now a small 0,33 litre bottle in Halden.
Deep amber colour with a light beige head that leaves a good lacing. Not as black as many other dutch herfst bock. Raisin and caramel aroma. A balanced and fine moderate sweet fruity flavour. Lots of raisins and a solid caramel background. Warm alcohol. Not as rich and dominating as the other I have tried. The best Texelse Bock I have tried so far. But still a bit strange sour background. Decent but not the best dutch bock.
[Bottle from Slijterij Barrique Odijk in Odijk, Netherlands]
Old Rating
bottle - deep brown body with a beige head - very sweet nose with some alcohol – sweet and sour malty flavour with some roasted malt - medium fruity – too much alcohol coming through 4-3-4-3-9 = 2,3

30 cl. bottle @ parents. Brown with an off-white head. Some specks of yeast in the glass. More than decent bock which is not too sweet.

[Bottle at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Brown with a large beige head and too much fizz. Had flavours of toffee, butter, and a little chocolate. Felt thin and yet vaguely cloying in the mouth. Weak-tasting given the high ABV. Perhaps it was hurt by comparison to the cask ales that I had the rest of the night, but this really didn’t do it for me. c8
