We invited the brewers from Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world, to our brewery to concoct a co-created beer of epic proportions. The resulting beer takes both our signature styles, IPA and hefeweizen, to create a whole new beery entity. The beer rocks a classic Hefeweisse base of wheat and Munich malt with aromas of banana and clove and a distinctive trademark haziness. On top of this we have layered a tapestry of US citrus hop character from Centennial and Simcoe.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Patchy white head. Golden body with a wheat haze. Lacing rings down the glassware. Smell of ripe citrus, wheat and clove. Lightly spiced fruit hoppy taste, lots of fresh oranges. Mid-dry fruit hoppy ending. Fine bodied. Very refreshing (Tromsø 15.03.2015).

At a tasting, smallish bubbly head, hazy pale orange color, woody shrubby aroma with a hint of fruit and bubblegum and some wheat in the back, flavor of bubblegum banana and wheat, medium bitterness. Fair and quite drinkable.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma and taste of grapefruit, light banana, malt and light hops. Resfreshing and easy to drink. Not that bitter.

0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, best before 15/10/2015. Hazy, pale orangeish yellow with a medium-sized, fine pored, foamy, stable, white head. Nice, fruity aroma of lemon, passion fruit and grapefruit. Slightly bitter taste with a mixture of typical hefeweizen elements like banana and clove as well as IPA-signature flavours of lemon and grapefruit. Quite good. Medium long, rather bitter finish with lots of grapefruit. Only medium-bodied and thus not really hefeweizen-like, creamy and spritzy mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Very refreshing beer much on the IPA-side with Weihenstephan’s contribution only to be realized in the taste. Quite tasty and satisfying but still a bit disappointing considering the reputation of the involved breweries.

Keg at the Grain Store, Cambridge. Hazy yellow orange, a bit of white head. Serious lacing. Big smell, almost like a Hefe/Witbier hybrid: coriander, cinnamon, hard citrus, tropical fruit. Taste is even better, a tangy sweetness allowing the hop bitterness to take over toward the finish. Spicy sweet aftertaste. Discoveries like these. That’s why I drink beer.

Flaske 330ml fra Vinmonopolet, Tromsø Langnes. Lys gyldenbrun. Litt uklar. Høyt pent skum som etterlater kniplingslacing. Forsiktig sitrusaroma. Smaken sitrus & appelsinskall. Ekstra syrlig avslutning. Litt sedimenter igjen på flaska.
