(On Tap) Hazy mid brown with big white head. Aroma reminds me of an English ale, malty with toffee notes and hints of tea or seaweed. Medium body with plenty of gentle carbonation. Taste is toffee malt with gentle sweetness balanced by some pleasant vegetable or tea notes and some slight bitterness. Very nice bitter for the climate.

At venue 28/12/2014, this was the second (and fourth!) of the 3 beers they offered on tap - this was the ’dark’ of the ’light/dark/black’ being offered and was easily the best at the venue and indeed I’m happy to crown this Cuba’s best beer. Served in dimpled pint mug (about 3/4 of a pint) it’s a deep slightly hazy chestnut brown colour with an average head, off white. Aroma of caramel, malt, yeast and dark fruits with average carbonation, medium body, bittersweet finish. Did enjoy this.

Couple of pints on the square in Cuba, 11/06/14. Murky chestnut brown coloured pour , frothy cream coloured head that fleets. Aroma is damp grains, some sharp vinegar / green apple and light toast. Flavour is thin, light toast, wheaty grains, toast. Finish has sharp acid and worty grains. Palate is flabby, doughy grains, light body and moderately high carbonation. Underattenuated and worty, poor hot fermentation.

Ordered as "cura". That confused the hell out of me. Murky chesnut colour with thin layer of foam. Slight rotten fruit accent to the otherwise straightforward brown sugar aroma. As with the Claro, it’s quite fizzy, obscuring some of the brown sugar maltiness. The rotten off-notes are actually quite minimal in the flavour, leaving a simple brown sugar and dark caramel taste. It’s fairly unassertive stuff, though bold as hell compared with the rest of Cuba’s beer pantheon.
