The barrel-aged version of Breakside’s popular winter seasonal, Salted Caramel Stout, this vintage release has been sitting for over a year in Van Winkle wheated Bourbon barrels that were also used to house Bissell Maple Farm maple syrup. Think brown spices, earth and dark fruit coupled with the rich flavors of vanilla and caramel with a hint of salt in the finish. Soft oak tannins and a pleasant wood character round this out.

Explosive and clearly infected, opened a second bottle with the same result. Deep clearish brown with a light brown head. Bourbon on the nose and the taste with a slight sour note.

Thinner then expected and I'd like, solid flavor but short fall off. Maple bourbon barrel aged, but 9abv, missing depth

Bottle [from trade with KevinReddirt] shared with Caesar. Opaque black color, medium sized beige to light brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, light roast, light caramel and reasonably sweet. Decent body and carbonation. Mwah.

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black colour with compact beige head. Too much carbonation. Chocolate, a bit thin, high esters, high alcohol, a bit buttery (the barrel); not bad, but nothing special, and overpriced.

12oz shared with Alex. Appearance: very dark brown with a huge tan head, definitely overcarbonated. Aroma: burnt bourbon barrel, some dark fruits and sweetness along with maple and toffee notes. Taste: along the same lines, lots of wood, burnt wood, bourbon notes. As it's overcarbonated body does not seem even be close to thick. Overall: well, it's a good beer, but it's not even close to what I would expect from it based on the description.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is intensely decadent, with heavy, complex bourbon, maple syrup and a little of the salted caramel. Flavour is similarly decadent and complex, with wonderful bourbon barrels upfront, accentuated by salt caramel, and a hint of maple syrup. Decadent and complex -- wonderful use of the bourbon, while the adjuncts accentuate beautifully. Lovely.

On tap. Pours a very dark brisn with light head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, dark caramel and toasty malts. Flavors of green oak, bourbon, caramel fudge, and dry toasted malts. Maybe a touch too much bourbon. Otherwise very nice.

Wonderful beer. Barrel aged without tasting like wood. Maple and malt aroma. Malty flavour with chocolate and toffee notes. Long malt finish.
