Zwart & Wit has a smooth mouth feel and combines both the hoppiness of a classic IPA and the light roasted malt flavor of a stout. Flavor indication: grassy, hoppy, light roasted. Translates as Black & White

My 100th De Molen rating! Bottle. Pretty much black color, brown head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of chocolate covered pine needles. Taste is roasty coffee grounds, dark bittersweet cocoa, bitter pine, grass finish. Good example of the style.

330ml bottle from Bierkompass
Bottled 07/08/13 - Pours dark brown with a bubbly white head. Aroma of roasted malts, hints of grainy notes, grassy hops and licorice. Taste is smooth, slightly grainy and roasty with hints of grassy hops and fruits. Finish is warming, roasty, salty and bitter with loads of licorice, hints of fruits and dark chocolate. Not very black IPAish, feels more like a stout/porter with a just a tad more hops than usual.

Bottle from biernavi.de. Black body with small, shortly lasting, beige head. Great aroma, tropical fruits and citrus in the front, roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and alcohol come from the background. Taste starts with citrus and tropical fruits, then the malt aromas quickly come forward with roasted malt, chocolate, brown sugar, and then the hop and malt aromas equally head to the hop/coffee bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and a soft carbonation. Enjoyed this a lot, balances the aroma hop and dark malt themes very well and also surprisingly smooth to drink, so it fulfils what I expect from a Black IPA.

Deutlich malziger Antrunk, leicht röstig. Intensiver malzig werdend, wenig getreidig. Hopfiger, Kaffee, wenig bitter im Abgang. Dazu stärker hopfig, dazu parallel der Kaffee. 8/10/10/10/8/10

[10/13/13] Draught at Arend’s Nest in Amsterdam. Black with a small tan beige head. Roasty aroma with some dark chocolate and some leafy hops, a bit fruity. Roasty flavor, bitter and a bit sweet, with some dark chocolate, piney and slightly fruity hops and a lingering bitter aftertaste. Medium-bodied. Nice.
