Bottle in Winter Park with jcnielsen. Gusher! Pours a dark brown appearance with a thin, dark brown head. Really interesting aroma- dark fruit, dark chocolate, roast, vanilla, and coconut. High carbonation. Somewhat tart. Coconut, dark chocolate, dark fruit, grapes, plums. Like the other version, this style really isn’t my thing but this sure is interesting.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a black color with a thin white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Sly concave lacing.
The aroma started with some milk chocolate, light coffee, dark fruits, some vanilla, brown sugar and coconut. Red fruitiness/sly vinous.
The flavor leans towards some roasty coffee to bitter coffee. Coconut is there. Berry notes flavor it on up nicely. Blended vinous to roasty to bitter coffee aftertaste and running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body. Some sour/vinous harshness hits. Carbonation feels fine, appropriate.
Overall, imperial porter with sour/vinous notes? Unsure if that was intended, but somehow this seems to work for me in a stellar way. If there’s infection, well, that infection served it right!

Bottle from AFH. Thanks sir!!! This is a dark reddish brown with a little bit of sediment. A single finger head that fades slowly to a thin tan line. Smells really nice. You get a little bit of the booze aroma, coconut with a very light flaked oat. The mouthfeel is a little thin, The coconut is certainly there. I’ve never had a Tayberry but it certainly lends a sweetness here with a slightly roasted finish. I’m not sure this is a porter though?

500 ml bottle purchased at the brewery about a week ago. Massive carbonation on a slow, steady pour. Deep brown in color with a huge, slow dying tan head. Aroma is herbal berries and hints of mild roasted grain.
The flavor is dominating in this odd berry. I can’t pick out any of the coconut flake. Also in the back end of the sip is a mild sourness. Almost reminds me of a light sour brown with herbal berries added. The mouthfeel has plenty of carbonation with a lively tingle over the palate. Medium in body. Very different and I think people who enjoy sours would like this a lot.

Bottle from Bert’s I had to lookup tayberry, a cross between Blackberry and Red Raspberry. Rich chocolate maltiness with a distinct tart berry aroma. Light oxidation and a touch of coconut. Rich chocolate with a big tart berry flavor. Mild coconut plays a supporting roll which is fine with me. Lingering chocolate roast and fruit in the finish. Spirited carbonation, medium body. This is a flavorful well made beer, but I think it can be better. The tartness of the berries seem a bit strong and overpower the chocolate maltiness in the flavor. I’d like a bit more of a chewy mouth and full body with a touch less carbonation.
