Deliciously refreshing, Fuller’s Summer Ale is the signal that heralds the start of warmer weather. They say one swallow doesn’t make a summer, but your first swig of this crisp blonde ale might just prove otherwise.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. An ok golden ale. Smooth, sweet and soft malts, some citrus, without getting too watery. Slightly sweet finish.

Bottle. This was less enjoyable than the cask version. It had the same gold colour and white head, but aroma was a bit stale. It was rather thin in the mouth with a crude sweet flavour. Bland.

Bottle: Golden colour with a lasting white head. Yeasty aroma, taste is bitter but rather thin. Not unpleasant, and not memorable either.

Bottle. Golden colour with a fast disappearing white head. Sweet malty nose with some hints of hops. Sweet malty flavor with a thin mouthfeel. Some zesty hints. Not much bitterness in the aftertaste. Pretty boring for a Fuller’s beer.

Bottle, Sainsbury’s Heyford Hill, Oxford, 29-06-06. Pours a very bright golden colour, great clarity to it. I really didn’t get much in the aroma stakes possible citrus notes but not much, beer tasted a bit drab and thin really found this quite bland. A dissapointment from Fullers.

Blond color, poor head. The aroma is lightly metallic, with very light yellow apples. The taste is poor, with a very light citrus and honey touch, the bitterness is simply missing. Making love in a canoe.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pale golden with a small, dissipating head. Lovely fresh, hoppy aroma. Light character, no real body or alcohol with only a discreet bitterness. The wheat adds a slight acidity making this a fresh and quenching summer beer. 280202

Bottled. Golden beer, still with a reasonable head. The aroma is caramel and slightly dry and the flavour is toffee and watery. Overall a disappointing beer.

A pretty beer if lacking in other areas. Perhaps Blonde Ales just aren't my thing. Thin beers do better for me with a slightly bitter bite and this one is sweet caramel. A good choice if you don't want any mouthfeel in your beer.

A yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of straw, honey, and bees wax. The flavor is also sweet - too sweet for me, and with notes of honey and bees wax. The honey makes the mouthfeel sticky. The end is dry.
