When I’m looking for an abbey dubbel, the last brewery I think of is Harpoon. It was surprisingly decent though. Very smooth. Rated 4/17/04

I found to be a light, milk chocolately brew, with smooth hints of figs and a touch of earthiness, all complemented by a rounded, yet dry finish. Sampled on draft at Redbones in Boston. Odd I am seem to be the only one who actually found this to be a dubble.

Orangey, hazy appearance seems like a dubbel/tripel hybrid to me. The aroma is of pale malts, yeast, hops. Light, fluffy, somewhat apricoty dubbel flavours, but with a drier, yeastier tripel finish. I wondered what precisely they meant by "abbey-style" and now I know - they mean that they were shooting for either a dubbel or a tripel but got both!
