Toast, caramel, and light cherry aroma. Clear copper, brief medium head. Lots of maraschino cherry flavor from start to finish. Decent balance. Pretty nice red ale. It isnβt a style I like, but this one is well done.

Purchased at Trader Joe in Nashville on my trip there. Pours a dark amber colour, clean, with an off-white head that is big, foamy, with average retention and leaves great webbing. Yeasty nose with a little malt. Watery mouthfeel with a medium-thin body. I guess they have changed they recipe since the beginning, as this one does not taste much caramel anymore (like older reviews). Kind of boring, with a little bitterness. A little sweet malt. Mildly crisp, and still boring. A monster that does not scare at all.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Trader Joes (Short Pump), 2/23/10
Aroma: Nose has some caramel malts, bread, corn, and earthiness
Appearance: Pours a clear, dark orange color, light lace from a thin head
Flavor: Taste has some sweetness, lots of malty flavors, minimal hop presence
Palate: The body is light-medium, carbonation is fairly high, and the duration is quite short
Overall Impression: Overall, this one is a fairly average beer by all accounts. The taste is OK, the nose is OK, the look is OK, and the beer is OK. I don't really have much to add to that, nothing special, but drinkable.

Bottle on 11/14/2009 from Trader Joes - Short Pump. Very clear copper amber body with a large foamy off-white head. Sweet toasty and slightly nutty aroma. Sweet toasty flavor, some dry graininess. Medium light body with moderately low carbonation.

Filtered red-amber color. Fluffy off-white head. Mild non-aroma, light toasty malt I guess. Straightforward light to medium body maltwise, very easy and drinkable. Displays a decent bitter hop balance, nothing spectacular certainly. Preferable to a lot of macro swill, but still mediocre at best.

12 ounce bottle from Trader Joeβs in Short Pump, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is grainy toffee with a bit of nuttiness. Taste is caramel, toffee, bread and a nutty finish. No real hop notes to speak of. Medium bodied. Decent beer.

When this beer is first poured, it looks and smells like it is going to be a good beer, but the main thing that this beer left after drinking it is the horrible metallic aftertaste. This aftertaste was confirmed by other people who drank this with me. Apparently, if you eat candy and drink this the taste is mitigated, but unless you do that I do not suggest this beer at all. Maybe it was just the sixer that I had, but that is the only way I can rate this beer.

Bottle from, where else, Trader Joeβs. A pretty malty smell with a lacing of hop nose. Pours a touch light for an amber, thin temporary head. Some definite malt taste, but the hops I smelled are somewhat missing. Kind of phenolic. Of course for the price, itβs pretty good.
