I had no idea this beer existed! So it was a surprise seeing it on the shelf, and I couldn't resist grabbing a 6 of it, despite the fact that it wasn't all the special really. Very attractive in the glass: deep dark brownish-red color with small head and thin quick lacing. Notes of chocolate, nutmeg, and butterscotch in the aroma. Lightly sweet, and somewhat astringent, and just a hint of diacetyl. A little rough and fizzy in the mouth. Interesting but with some real flaws - perhaps even some harsh higher alcohols in the finish
