Darkish brown pour. Taste is roasted malt and muted nuts. Definitely, missing that something extra, but very drinkable. Rated 3/16/03

2005 bottle at Julios Spring Beer Fest, 4/02/05. Medium-brown-chestnut colored body, with no haze, small beige head, mostly dissipating to light cover. No lacing. Aroma of light English yeast, dry and lightly musty. A bit of spoiled fruits, caramelized sugar and old peaches. Flavor of lightly sticky, bittersweet toffe, slight yeast and dirty malts. Fuggley funkiness provides some interest as it ends, but there is little here to keep my interest. Medium-light body, no challenging flavors. A hint of caramel-chocolate lingers on.

Bottle Pours a dark redish brown and a large foamy light tan head leaving dry clumpy lacing as it recedes. Sweet dark malty aroma witha somewhat acidic twang. Flavors a re chocolate, coacoa and a soft woody flavor. Only a slight hop profile and a very soft, almost flat carbonation. Soft feel and smoth. Overall a bit bland but drinkable and pleasant.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a very dark brown color with a small tan head that quickly fades. There is a very faint sour aroma. The taste is nutty and smooth with just a hint of bitterness. Medium finish. Medium body. Ok.

The guy at the liquor store recommended this as an alternative to Newcastle. It wasn't bad, but seemed kind of thin. It looked nice with a dark brown color, but not much to enjoy besides taste of hops. An ok beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Nut Brown on 03 Aug 2018 at 20:20 - Score: 5

Great dark brown colour, with a nice nutty smell. Good overall nut flavour, especially if you enjoy the taste. On par with the Ithaca Nut Brown--both tremendous beers!
