I’m checking over my notes on this one and think I may have meant to put 3.4 instead of 4.4. It’s a decent Magic hat ale. Amber pour. Rated 11/2/04

Reddish brown ale with a small off white head. Light vanilla caramel in aroma. Woody in mouth and lots of roasted malts and coffee notes. Lighter bodied. Falls flat in mouth after a few seconds of tasting.

Stunning deep dark ruby brown color under a toffee head that disappeared quickly. Nutty caramel aroma. Sweet with a slightly tangy finish. Could use a little more body, but at 4%, this could be a lot worse.

2004 draught. Pours a light brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of light nuts and toffee. Flavor is pretty basic brown ale. Light toffee and a hint of chocolate. Earthy hops and a touch of astringency, or was that just thinning?? I completely agree with Muzzlehatch. Instantly forgettable, what were they trying to do here?

This is on tap all over NY all of a sudden, and now, reading the description, I know why - a pretty standard brown - nothing stand out about it, but all the elements are there in all the right places - that "magic hat taste" that tends to ruin some of their beers works well here - not quite robust enough, but quite drinkable.
