12oz bottle pours a translucent brown/black with some cloudy, tan head. Nose is nutty, bready, brown sugar, malts. Flavor has more of the oats, malt, brown sugar, marzipan, a little cola, some chocolate. Finishes dry.

Spuyten duyvil, brooklyn cask: pours black with a small loose cask head. Aroma is chocolate, mint, and maybe anise. Taste and aroma are like of an old school British porter. Interesting and a little different. Better than expected.

Bottle from my sister.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Gentle sporadic lacing sticks around the sides of the glass.
The smell had a soft chocolate sweetness with a gentle rolling warmth of booze underneath, huh, hmmm...must be really fresh at 6.7%. Light grainy to thick dark fruitiness trying to strike a certain strength in this one.
The taste took the previously mentioned flavors and added a good sweet booziness.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light for the most part and showed a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there but not overbearing.
Overall, good beer, now where are my oatmeal raisin cookies to go with this? (wink). I’d have it again.

Draft. Deep brown body with a short, tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, lactose, cocoa powder, cream. Hint of coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, slick texture, moderate carbonation. Chocolate, light coffee and roasted malt tastes.

Tap at the Ginger Man, NYC, 18/05/13. Listed by the GM as ’River Horse - Oatmeal Coffee Stout 6.7%’ but checking the database and reviews I figure it must be this beer as most reviews give mention to the coffee. Mid black with a medium sized dirty tan/mocha head. Nose is roast malt, cocoa, light coffee notes, molasses. Taste comprises chocolate, roast malt, coffee, molasses. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, roast in the finish. Solid enough.
