750 ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish hue with a large light beige head. A light nose of spices and big berries. A pretty similar flavor with an emphasis on berries, light caramel, sweet. Pretty light flavors. Earthy at times. Light spices. Decent. Tastes thin despite the high ABV.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 2/3/12

Aroma: The nose is sweet and malty, with some caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and molasses
Appearance: This one pours a murky looking brown color with minimal head and no lacing
Flavor: The taste is fairly sweet, lots of caramel and toffee, no real bitterness, unbalanced sweet
Palate: The body is medium, it sticky and mildly cloying on the mouth, with a tingly finish on the tongue
Overall Impression: I found some nice components to this beer, but in the end this one was just a little too sweet/cloying for my tastes. Despite that criticism, I still found it to be decent.

bottle pours murky brown with a non existent head, and no pop when I opened the bottle:(! Aroma is still nice, with toffee, sweet candied sugar, brown sugar and maple. Flavor is rich caramel malts, some light clove spicing, ends sweet and lingers with light alcohol and again maple. Not bad, but completely flat.

750 c&c from Oak Tree. Pours brown with a foamy 5 finger gigantic beige head. The aroma is primarily molasses - with some smokiness. It triggers a childhood memory I can’t place. Medium minus body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is smokey treacle. A very unique and tasty ale. Finishes a bit ashy and smokey. That works!

750ml bottle from jtclockwork. Nose of candi sugar, light bubblegum, and caramel. Clear dark reddish brown with a huge beige glass lacing head. Flavor is mapley caramel, a little pepperiness, and a hint of the iron supplement they give little kids.

2005 growler at the Mondial Ratebeer tasting, 6/4/05. Dark violet-auburn-brown with some amber tinges on the sides. No head, no lacing. Some caramel and toffee in the nose, with light hints of dry chocolate. Flavor is lightly vinous, with a very earthy yeast and rich barley tone to it. Caramel malts and bitter roasted malts. Cherries, plums and prunes on the finish, which is lightly bitter. Chocolate lingers, though there is some wateriness to it. Low carbonation is pleasant. Enjoyable, but the depth of flavor could be better and the malts seems a little unwieldly, the bitter roast and dry chocolate at odds with the only light caramel/toffee. Too much acidic astringency. A strange one, perhaps it would do much better fresh on draught or bottled.
