Samuel Adams Rustic Saison is an incredibly complex yet refreshing beer in the classic style of Belgian farmhouse ales. These blonde ales were traditionally brewed to quench the thirst of farmers throughout the summer months. The unique character of our brew comes from its Belgian yeast that imparts floral, fruity, and spicy flavors. These are layered with a slight earthiness and a citrusy, herbal hop character for a bright and satisfying summer brew.

Maybe the least remarkable Saison there is. This is what happens when a large brewer tries to make something for the masses that isn’t very easy to make. A dumbed down version of a style that combines elegance and effervescence when completed well, i.e. Dupont and Hill Farmstead

bottle - Pours clear gold with a small white head. The aroma is of yeast with banana notes. The flavor is sweet, fruity, and a little spicy. While alright to drink, this brew is a light, underwhelming saison.

Bottle courtesy of markwise. The 12oz-er pours a brilliant clear gold with weak bright white head. The aroma is sort of fruity with red apples as well as notes of spicy yeast, some herbal qualities and floral to spicy hops. The taste is similar with thin veins of red apple and spicy yeast mixing with herbal notes, floral hops and spicy hops. Into the finish a pleasing note of grainy malts joins in to help create a more interesting and balance experience.

12oz bottle from the Summer Beers 12pack. Filtered pale yellow-orange. Thin, fading, soapy head. Hmm. This one isn’t really a winner. Fails to capture the style, tastes like an herbed out macro beer...which it is I suppose. Grainy, buttery, with some medicinal herbal traits..maybe some orange peel, grains of paradise. Lemony finish, not so far off from other Sam Adams seasonals. Unimpressive.

12 ounce bottle from Harris Teeter Barracks Charlottesville, VA. Opened 4/28/11. Pours a clear golden color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus, bubblegum and bready notes. The taste is leafy hops, bubblegum, fruity notes and a faint bit of nuttiness. Medium bodied. A little odd.

Bottle thanks to Jcwattsrugger. Pours clear gold. White head. Nose/taste of buttered biscuits, malted barley, herbal hops, yeast, apple and pear skins. Medium body. Smooth. Mouth feel is a bit on the malty side. Body a bit thin.
