This is our rendition of a Dry Irish Stout, circa 1890. Deep roasted malt is what makes a stout a stout, and years ago the fire of the kiln would have added its distinct smoky flavor during the roasting process. Three Feet Deep rekindles that lost flavor with a small addition of peat smoked malt. At 14.4° Plato, this is not a heavy beer, but you wouldn't know it as the round and earthy quality of peat fills your senses. Our stout is a return to County Cork and the warmth of the Irish hearth.

Bottle: Very dark brown pour with a thin brown head. Roasty and chocolatey aroma gives the impression of a dry, smokey, and ash laden roast. Taste is more roasty, smokey, and burnt malt. Ashes. Some espresso. Peat malt, as per the description. Fits their bill and good for the intentions.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large brown head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was woody, smoky and roasty. The flavor was dryish, woody and smoky with notes of tasty malts, vanilla and a touch of rum. The finish was medium length dry, roasty and woody. Medium body. Solid.

Big black pour with a creamy very thin head. Slight roasty aroma. A very tasty stout initially, all the desired dark beer flavors. Good crisp carbonation for a dry baby. Comes across more alky than 5.5%. Oh yes, quite burnt and bitter at times but certainly not over the top. Above average fer sure. Notsure if I really taste any peat in there or not, just a bad ass stout without going impy on ya. This is new around here and was glad to have had the chance to taste it. Got it at 3 sons. Yep, the peat is not real apparent, just seems real stouty.

12oz bottle. Opaque black with thick beige head. Smoky and creamy, with a solid sandy hop bitterness in the background. Big chocolate presence as well, think Chocolate Cream Dry Stout. Mellow, chocolate milkshake finish. The peat smoked malt adds a nice dimension to it, making it slightly reminiscent of Old Chub smokewise. A great modern Stout.

12 oz twist off bottle purchased at Zipps in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pour is black with ruby highlights and a pretty one inch dense khaki head. Falls slowly to reveal lacing. Aroma of peaty moss roastiness. Some bright pine hoppiness present. Taste is big peat moss initially, giving way to coffee roastiness and finishing with pine hop bitterness and more of the peat. Peat is really the main story here, and it is quite expressive. Creative beer. Palate is medium to thinnish, drinkable.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a red shine under a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of over ripe fruit. The flavor is sweet mlaty again with primary notes of over ripe fruits, but also with a slight alcohol burn. Thanks yespr for bring this to Denmark.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a lacing head. Dark roasted aroma, clearly smoked. Smoked flavour with an underlying roasted malt flavour. Just sweet enough without getting too much. Finish is slight dry malty. Nice.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Clear, dark brown with a reddish hue and a light brown head. Fairly smoked aroma. Medium body with dry, burned malt accents and a distinct, smoked edge. The finish is dry but not very bitter. Quite interesting. 180907

Dark color. Light aroma of chocolate, with some roated malt. Dry mouthfeel, with a dry flavor of chocolate malt and roasted malt. Even if not my style, I have to say that it’s balanced and well brewed.
