Bottle - Vintage 2010 - Molasses, vanilla, chocolate and some Whisky notes. Jet black with a rich beige head. Chocolate syrup, cocoa and a long balanced finish. Very well balanced and a great example of what they can do.

A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, a smooth chocolate with smooth licorice, coffee, nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice chocolate with mocha, herbal hops, light meaty notes, aniseed & alcohol.

650mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours an amber-tinged black with a huge foamy beige head. Aroma is quite berry-like, with loads of fruitiness, not much sign of the whiskey barrels, just a bit of wood. Flavour is a bit tart, with loads of berries, some dark fruits, a small hint of whiskey barrels, and some caramel. Very complex, quite atypical for an impie stout with the pronounced fruitiness. The whiskey barrels are very subtle, providing a tasteful accentuation of the base beer. A bit too highly carbonated for the style, but not too detracting. I didn't like this beer at first, but after finishing my glass, I was convinced. Great stuff.

Bottle (Thanks Kyle): Poured a deep black color stout with a nice light brown color head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of whisky is quite dominant with light sweet ester. Taste is a well balanced mix between some creamy whisky notes with light roasted malt. Body is fuller then average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well balanced with loads of whisky notes thought no burning alcohol and balanced out by a solid malt backbone.

bottle at RBSG 2010 - Pours black with a dark tan head. It has an aroma of dark roast malt, bourbon, and coffee. The excellent flavor is of dark roast malt and coffee. The bourbon is quite subdued. The body is pleasantly full. Very good.

Bottle shared by Savvy1982 at the RBSG ’10 Grand Tasting. Poured near black with a brown head that lasted. Aroma was full of dark malts with chocolate and coffee came to the forefront with a slight backing smokey/whiskey note. Flavor was a bit more smokey with whiskey more present and the coffee was still strong with the chocolate taking more of a backseat.

Bottle at a tasting. Thanks David C. Black with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, woody notes, acidic berries and some coffee hints. Flavor is sweet upfront with roasted malt, chocolate notes and some fruitiness and continues dry with coffee, light alcohol hints and some hops. Full silky body.
