Spring has sprung at the little brewery in Shiner, TX (pop. 2,070). And with it, our newest brew, Shiner Dortmunder-Style Spring Ale. The Old World classic pours deep gold in color, with a white head and smooth flavor. Its medium hop bitterness and hints of grain, honey and floral hops will refresh you like a sun-drenched nap on a lush green lawn.

Not so bad. Light brown color and heavily carbonated. Aroma is has just a little sourness that seems to fade. Flavor is light with grain and lager yeast, clearly identifiable as a German style. Drinkable enough.

To be honest, I’ll mirror other people’s comments in that it’s quite similar to their regular bock beer. Poured a golden color with a white head. Aroma was malty, with a touch of grassy hops. Flavor was light malts, hop flavor. Very refreshing, and a great beer for the season.

Shitty hay and beans aroma. Clear amber, thin head. Light leafy flavor. Cucumber finish. Weak with a suspect aroma, but no off flavors. Fairly refreshing, but not a lot going on.

Pour is a dark gold with a large white head. Aroma is grassy and grainy. Flavor is bready malts with some green apple in the finish. Decent but nothing great as this is very light in body.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a large foamy yellow-white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was sweetish and a bit sugary with notes of faint tangy fruit, sourdough bread and a bit of pepper. The flavor was dryish, malty and chewy with notes of bread and vague fruit. Long, tangy, sugary and bready finish. Fairly full of body and smooth. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle from a local Kroger. Pours a clear golden color with a medium creamy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of slightly toasted malts and grass. The taste is grassy hops, toasted malts, a bit of green apple. Thin-medium bodied. Drinkable, but kinda boring.

Bottle. Pours a orangey gold with a foamy head and sweet aromas of honey buns and spice. Flavor is decent... a mix of sweet honey and dough with a little bit of a spicy presence (white pepper and ginger?). This is just a little sticky on the palate and finishes with a grassy spicy blend that nicely compliments the sweet malty beginning and mid-section.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Pours orangey gold with a slight white head. Smells bready with mild grassy hop. Medium body with decent carbonation. Fairly bready, and the hop is lots less than the 101. Still a very satisfying and rather tasty beer.
