We owe the first Viennese lager to Anton Dreher, the inventor of the lager. With the advent of light beers in the 19th century, it was displaced, but found its way to Mexico, where the original brewing style was greatly modified. Not so with us. We have been brewing our “Original” unchanged since 1999.

On tap at Brauhaus Lemke am Alex, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma has plenty of bready malt upfront, with dry toasted caramel. Flavour is very malty, with lots of toasted caramel, bready malt, and a bit of nuttiness. Bready and malty. Very nicely done for the style.

Dark brown, good head lasting a minute or so. Caramel malty spicy nose. Flavor is balanced caramel without excessive sweetness, nice non astringent bitterness, hop flavor subdued, some coffee notes. Not sweet like a Munich dunkles.

By far their best beer. Nicely malty, which dominates the beer. Caramel that rounds out a nice full body. Lemke berlin
