We owe the first Viennese lager to Anton Dreher, the inventor of the lager. With the advent of light beers in the 19th century, it was displaced, but found its way to Mexico, where the original brewing style was greatly modified. Not so with us. We have been brewing our “Original” unchanged since 1999.

29.08.2018 -- a 0.33l bottle from lemke in charlottenburg, bb 28.03.2019, charge 280618-2, 12€/6-pack taster. pours a hazy chestnut with a frothy off-white head. aroma of ham, caramel, nuts, smoke, leaves. flavour of smoke, malts, slight tobacco, nuts, caramel, apple skins. is this a smoked beer?

Draught at Lemke am Schloss. Cloudy, amber colored. AROMA- toasted malts, earthy hops, bread, touch of berries. FLAVOR- neutral, lightly bitter, toasted malts, bread crusts, earthy hops. Medium bodied.

On tap at Brauhaus Lemke, Berlin. Pours hazy brown with medium off-white head. Caramel, malty, toasted malts, light nuts, sweet, bit watery and quite thin. Light bodied.

Keg at the brewpub Berlin. A hazed amber brown coloured pour with a sticky beige head. Aroma is hazelnut and toasted malts, toffee, earthy notes. Flavour is composed of rounded malts, nutty and toffee, twig, earthy light raisin. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, rounded finish. Ok.

Flasche (33 cl) aus dem Edeka am Prager Platz, Berlin-Wilmersdorf. - Tief rotbraun, leicht trüb. - In der Nase äußerst mildes Toastmalz und zarte hopfenwürzige Herbe. - Antrunk hefig weich mit kernig-bitterem Karamelmalz, nussiger Note und guter kräuteriger Herbe. Mild rezent, vollmundig. Im Abgang kräftige, fast ein wenig schroffe (weil bei dieser Biersorte nicht erwartete) grasige Hopfenherbe mit Anklängen an Tabak. Langer bitterer Nachtrunk mit einer Spur von trockenem Kakao. - Interessante Gasthausbrauereien-Variante eines Wiener Lagers, hefiger, kerniger und aromatischer gehopft als viele. Empfehlenswert.

Aus der Flasche im 2017-08 getrunken. Hier sind bittere Hopfennoten und malzige, süsse Karamellnoten sehr gut in Harmonie und bildet ein sehr schönes, süffiges Bier. Fein!
