Small Patch Pumpkin Harvest Ale

Bottle. Pours clear Ruby burnt umber, small beige head, some lacing. Aroma of pumpkin spices and squash. Flavor is opinion spices, not as overpowering as expected, caramel, toffee. Medium sweet, very light bitter. Medium body.

Pour is a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is of a slight spice. Nothing over the top or surprising for this brewer. Flavor is again a barely there spice with a very little malt presence. The was pretty poor. A boring brown ale with some spice thrown into it.

Bottle. A- Pumpkin pie, spices, cinnamon nutmeg, molasses. A- Brown color, hazy liquid, tan head. T- Spice, malty. P- Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, spiced watery finish. O- Decent amount of spice and even real smelling pumpkin pie but the taste was lacking. Pretty malty and one dimensional without much of the aroma transferring over onto the palate.

Many thanks to Chris for this bottle! Smooth fresh, slightly sour, slightly spicy. Fresh, slightly grainy, nearly no bitterness. Smooth, fresh, but a bit too characterless. Easy to drink though.

From a bottle smells like punky pie. Look is dark like a porter. Stoutly kind a feel that morphs into a stronger dark lager. Yes that spice is in there. That molasses is detectable I think, gives it a rich nerve. Yes, that dark beer thing takes over in the middle yet it has decent, almost over the top, punky personality. Just never quite gets there. Aroma turns metallic toward the end.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 2/3/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, light ginger, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, spice, and pumpkin notes; with solid strength. Taste of pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, light clove, light ginger, herbal, and toasted earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light chocolate, nutmeg, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for good bit. Nice balance, complexity, and robustness of pumpkin, malt, and light-moderate spice flavors; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice pumpkin ale. All around good robustness and balance of malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle pours with an amber body that has copper hues and supports a white head. The aroma offers up malts as well as roasted malts mixing with molasses, malt sweetened pumpkin and faint sweet red apples. The taste is similar and delivers sweet malts, some roasted maltiness, mild pumpkin and then pumpkin pie spices. Overall this is pretty nice and the pumpkin notes that surface are tasting good.

12oz bottle. Deep amber-brown body. Thin, oily head. Pronounced deep pumpkin aroma. Rather easy going, medium bodied Pumpkin beer. Not a spice bomb, but still has those unmistakeable pumpkin pie flavors. Middel of the road, some decent malt tones. Forgettable, ubiquitous Pumpkin Ale.
