Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 5/1/13

Aroma: The aroma is heavy roasted malts/coffee, some burnt notes, and some mild earth
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with small beige head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is medium-heavy roasted, some mild sweetness, and a lingering bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a tingly feel, and a dry, somewhat off finish
Overall Impression: This seemed like as good a beer as any for my first beer of May. Anyway, about this one is just a bit off. The nose and pours gave the impressions of a solid coffee porter, but something odd comes through in the taste and feel that doesn't work for me at all. Overall, this one was disappointing because I really wanted to like it.

It poured a deep, dark brown yielding the same color body with a large foamy off white head in my nonic. Some nice speckled lacing spider-webbed around the sides of the glass. The smell had the coffee up front with light hints of chocolate and roasted malt. The taste was lightly bitter with the coffee holding its own in the forefront, moderate amounts of chocolate and roasted malts present themselves acceptably and balanced. The palate was about a medium to light, almost a bit watery, but mainly balanced. It was smooth all around and very drinkable. It left a dry aftertaste and finish. Overall, this is definitely a beer for coffee lovers. I would come back to this.
