Unser West Coast IPA.

Vom Fass Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-11 getrunken. Lecker, ja sehr lecker sogar. Ein sehr harmonisches IPA. Das gefällt mir.

Balanced between fruity sweetness, herbal notes and bitterness. Leaning on the sweet end of the palate, but not too heavily.

Nagy, tartós hab, szűretlen, narancsba hajló borostyán szín. Enyhe, zöldfűszeres, mandarinos illat. Intenzív zöldfűszeres, füves, citrusos ízvilág, hajszálnyi gyantával, hosszú lecsengéssel. Közepesen testes, halványan édes, enyhén szénsavas és keserű. Jól összerakott, finom IPA.

Slightly unclear medium amber colour, tall frothy off-white head, half-way lasting, heavy lacing. Full aroma, pale malts, orange, lemon, pineapple, pine. Smooth taste, medium sweet and light heavy bitter, malty, fruity, piney. Fruity bittersweet middle part, lingering bitter aftertaste, fruity and spicy notes, medium body, oily to creamy texture, average carbonation. Elegant, well-crafted and tasty IPA, very good.

German IPA (never thought I’d use this combination of words fifteen years ago) with irregularly shaped, ’membranous’ lacing, egg-white head consisting of both minute, barely visible bubbles and large airy bubbles, retaining well around the edges but dissipating in the middle, on top of a lightly hazy, amberish-hued pale orange blonde beer. Aroma of fresh grapefruit, moldy orange, spruce resin, fermenting pineapple, sweet curry, lime peel, toasted bread, bitter honey, vague haemoglobin-like iron, moist cigarette tobacco, smoked paprika powder, marihuana even, fresh mango, papaja. Vivid, fruity onset, hints of green banana, kiwi and dried mango, softly carbonated with a smooth, lightly oily, supple mouthfeel; malt sweetish middle, lightly biscuity and caramelly with a subtle toasted edge in the end, supporting a resinous, spicy hop finish, aromatic and adequately but gently bittering, with hints of grapefruit and tonic water lingering in the back of the mouth after swallowing, as well as elevating citrus peel-like and lightly piney aromas; juicy malt sweetness in the end as well. This is my second German IPA today and apparently the Germans mean business with this: technically perfect (deutsche Gründlichkeit?) and brave enough to join the international craft beer ’flair’ without reservations. This is an American (or ’international’) style IPA and as un-German as it gets from a traditional point of view - living proof that the craft beer revolution is budding everywhere, whether it be in a traditional beer country or not. Lovely.

Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Horizon, Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe hops. Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Silky smooth pale malts, mildly sweet. Piney floral hops, light tang. Mild tropical fruits and a little hop spice. Light finish. Nice and Horizon is a hop tick I think.
