We're best known for brewing aggressive, big-character beers, but we love a great sessionable ale as much as anyone. Most beers at the less-weighty end of the spectrum lack flavor and depth as much as they lack high ABVs, but not Stone Levitation Ale! This deep amber brew has a rich maltiness, big hoppy character, citrus overtones, and an impressively modest alcohol content for a beer with so much flavor packed into it.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Translucent light brown with small off-white head. Aroma is big herbal hops, medium body, low carbonation, and very little lacing. Taste is herbal hops with some caramel malt.

Backlogged rating. Bottle from Old Town. Deep amber with a small off-white head. Lots of citrus and pine in the nose with some biscuity malts. Well-balanced with sweet malt and bitter hops. Not bad.

Enjoy by date of 02/17/15. Ruh roh, the sooner the better, right?
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice hazy amber/red colored body. A one finger white foamy head dissipated within about a minute leaving some light ringy lacing stringing itself around the glass.
The smell had a fairly big dried out citrus rolling all around in a slight peppery spice.
The taste copied the smell and added a quick dry peppery spiced aftertaste leading to a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. I’d say it was appropriately styled.
Overall, I’d say it was a good Amber/Red. It’s too bad that this is getting retired. Oh well.

Bottle bought from Bacchinalia, enjoyed in the comfort of my home. Ruddy brown, clear with a lot of carbonation and lacing. Light tan head. Aroma is earthy, caramel, hazelnut, honey and spruce. Bittersweet, hoppy and spicy initial taste fades to a light but sharp bitter. Caramel and grass notes in the finish. Gets better as it goes. Incredible stuff.
