We're best known for brewing aggressive, big-character beers, but we love a great sessionable ale as much as anyone. Most beers at the less-weighty end of the spectrum lack flavor and depth as much as they lack high ABVs, but not Stone Levitation Ale! This deep amber brew has a rich maltiness, big hoppy character, citrus overtones, and an impressively modest alcohol content for a beer with so much flavor packed into it.

I thought this was a brown ale. Oh well. Draft at waterfront. Dark. Pleasant, not as hoppy as promised

Bottle. Another winner from Stone. They should brew more lower gravity stuff because they are so good at it. Deep amber in color. Medium head. Aroma is really well balanced as is the flavor.

From Jul 2007

Purchased as part of a mixed 6pack at Wilbur's Liquors in Ft Collins.

This pours from 12oz bottle a nice clear deep amber with a large head of foam that recedes slowly leaving a few small islands near the center and it has some lacing.

The smell is hoppy. I get a lot of grapefruit but I also get some caramel malt.

The taste on first sip is kind of strange. The initial flavour is rather empty of flavour, kind of watery but then, thankfully, the grapefruit hoppy goodness moves in near and through the finish though it's at a subdued level. Hey, this is only 4.4%abv so I expected some kind of reduction in what was going to hit my taste buds and it sure makes this Ale a good for sessioning candidate *if* the flavour that's there is enough to please. Imho, it passes that test. I'd buy it again.

Punaisenruskea kirkas olut paksulla, höttöisellä ja pitsiä jättävällä vaahdolla. Kaunis olut.
