Has a nice light beige foam and dark brown body trending towards black. The aroma is malty sweet hops, dark barley, sugary coffee. The flavour is nice oily hops with heavy roasted barley on the back end, coffee, dry chocolate. Oily mouthfeel but not excessively so. This one gets it right.

On tap at Spinnakers, pours a cloudy dark reddish brown with a small beige head - doesn't look like a CDA. Aroma brings out light diacetyl, along with toasted malt and a touch of hoppy bitterness. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, piney hops and some diacetyl. Looks bad, smells pretty off and tastes similar. Not a total disaster, but certainly needs some work.

On tap. Pours a dark reddish brown with light white head. Aromas of sweet roasted malt with a mint of dark fruit. Flavors of dry roasted malts and flat bitter hops. Not much depth.

Red-tinged med brown. The aroma is malty, mostly nutty, rather like a rich, strongish brown ale. Fairly big body, malty, woody, nutty palate with a touch of earthy bitterness. Not a bad beer, actually, just think of it as a nice brown ale.

Some hops, piney style. Some sour malt in finish. Lacing good, clear dark brown with good head. Creamy texture. Ok, but nothing too hardcore. English take on BIPA. On tap at brewpub.

Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color; creamy head. Very nice roasted malt and coffee aroma. Lean body, but the mouthfeel is round enough; good dark caramel flavor, with hints of roasted malts and chocolate; correct bitterness level. Better flavor than other heavily roasted beers, but also not fruity-hop oriented.
Very pleasant.
