Bottled 7/28/15, shared by Chalameaux on 5/20/17.
Clear cola-like appearance with a light beige head atop showing moderate-to-low retention.
Wow. Even after almost two years this thing is still a spice bomb....huge cardamom and cinnamon dominate easily with chocoalte-like malts behind it. Light fudge, vanilla, soy and rich caramel, with warming, but still not quite enough, even take altogether, to match the intense spice character. I suppose it masks the alcohol, at least?
Better in the mouth, though still very spicy. Low carbonation, sweet and sticky, with medium attenuation. Certainly have seen much worse from Clown Shoes. The malt and spice profile almost balances out and you get soft molasses, maple, caramel and chocolate with tons of layers of spice, but it’s still heavily messy with astringent character from the spice and specialty malt and too much sweetness collecting on the palate, as the beer wears on.

22 oz bottle poured into a tulip. Bottled 11/6/2013. Black with a finger of tan head. Aromas of roast, dark chocolate, vanilla, spices, dark fruit, maybe a touch of oxidation. Tastes of roasty notes, spices, a little dark chocolate and caramel. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Hasn’t aged too badly but it was definitely better fresh.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with light head. Strong aromas of chai and dry winter spice overpowering everything else. Flavors spicy chocolate, roasted malts, ginger and allspice. Put off by the nose but yummy flavors.

Bottle from the Craft Beer Advent Calendar
Black color, with medium sized brownish head. Lean sweetish Imperial Stout, less full bodied than expected, although the alcohol can be perceived; it has a good dark malt and chocolate character, with a dynamic berry vein.
Quite easy to drink despite the strength, and very enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is very spicy, with the chai tea spices upfront, especially cardamom and cinnamon. Flavour is more stout-ish, with notes of chai tea, cocoa and vanilla. Spicy, medium body, with a chocolatey and vanilla finish. Solid for what it is, but not really my thing.

Bomber with a date on the neck that is smudged. This has sat in my basement for at least 9 or 10 months. Pitch black color with fast dying tan head. Aroma is very spicy; tea leaves, cinnamon, ginger root and just a nuance of chocolate.

Roasted Malt base is barely noticeable under all the spice. Chai tea and cinnamon sticks show right upfront of the sip with a weak amount of roasted malt giving a dry texture. The element that throws this off most for me is the strong ginger root character. The ginger really overpowered every other flavor in this brew.

12fl.oz. bottle. From 2015 Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Pours an opaque, dark brown with a thin, short lived, tan head. Sweet aroma of Indian spices, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Sweet, spicy flavour of Indian spices, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and licorice with a light, boozy finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice use of spices. Unique and fairly complex.
