Bottle shared by Jay at the February 2023 PS tasting, 2/11/23. Black, thin brown head, average retention. Aroma of roasted malt, earth, chocolate. Taste is roast, booze, peppers. Harsh. Past its prime.

12 oz. bottle shared by Freya at Ale Alpharetta. Black, with a tan ring. Orange juice, coffee, caramel, and bitterness chocolate. Heavy body, sticky, and slick. This is a weak imperial stout. Not bad, but not impressed.

Tap at Jerrys in Wicker Park. Black body with a thick ass brown head. The commercial description for this beer scared me but its not a thick sugar bomb. Body is well carbonated and medium thick. Goes down real easy. The cherry serves up tartness that really lightens the beer at the end of the flavor. its a prominent character that isn’t artificial. Vanilla is unnoticeable, thankfully. Chocolate character but the beer doesn’t taste like a hodgepodge of random adjuncts. Hazelnut brownie soda is a good way to describe this flavor. Aroma has a strong hazelnut character as well as my burps. Solid beer. Maybe a bit too much hazelnut as the beer warms.

Refrigerated 12 oz. , bottled on date 12/23/12, brown bottle poured into a snifter. Pours coal black with medium medium brown head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is dry chocolate, thick body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is dryer fairly rich chocolate, some vanilla, and ash finish.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/1/13

Aroma: The nose is right on from the description: lots of chocolate and vanilla, with some cherry
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a brown head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is rather sweet and malty, a little roasty, with some mild booze and mild bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it is a little sticky, with a soft carbonation, and light heat
Overall Impression: This was an interesting Imperial Stout. It is interestingly sweet in this style. I can't, off-hand, think of another one it reminds me of. Anyway, this is worth trying.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of bitter dark grains with coffee and a touch of tobacco. Flavor is similarly bitter with roasted malts, coffee and bitter chocolate with a hint of sweet dark grains underlying.

Fulton Grand, NY tap ($6): Pours black with a very wee head. Aroma is milk chocolate, a little bit of booze, and weakly roasted malts. Taste actually has the cherry somewhat pronounced. Nice taste of vanilla. Body is sort of weak and perhaps either not viscous or carbonated enough. Still it was pleasant enough to drink.

12 ounce bottle. Opaque black liquid topped by a small tan head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma of rich roasted malt, chocolate liqueur and dark cherries. Intense bittersweet dark chocolate flavor with notes of sour cherries and port wine. A nice sipping beer that has a smoothness and mild complexity. Finish is somewhat dry and bitter with peppery notes.
