A big rich scotch ale. Nose features malt , brown sugar and a hint of dark fruit. This is a well balanced, big, rich double scotch ale. The taste profile has a number of well balanced elements - dark caramel malt, toffee, vanilla, bourbon booziness and hints of oak, grain, molasses and dark ripe fruit. Under it all, there is enough hops (barely) and soft carbonation to keep this all real. Nice rich body aswell.

Brown color. Weird aroma, booze and caramel, flowery esters; a bit earthy. The mouthfeel is oily, it has some caramel flavor but no depth, moderate sweetness, some spicy touch, and some booze.

Bottle - Caramel and banana. Deep copper with a small white head. Dark caramel, butterscotch and some oak. Light bitterness on the finish and much more butterscotch.

650ml bottle at Brian's office. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, very fruity, subtle bourbon notes. Similar taste. Quite nice.

Golden brown colour, without much head. There's some brown sugar on the nose, but there's a bit of toffee but also that bourbon comes through a bit as well. On the palate, I'd say the carbonation is a bit high, and there is a negative impact on the sugars...so this ends up being a bit thin and the bourbon character doesn't really flow. I should like this beer, but I don't.

My brother: pours amber with beige head. Aroma is whisky, wood, sugar, maple syrup. Taste is sweet and barrels. Large maltiness. Super smooth for the high abv. Really nice.

Arôme : Caramel, boisé (bourbon), léger de fruits (raisins, notes de pommes sucrées), notes de vanille.
Goût : Entrée de bouche : Léger goût fruité (raisins, traces de pommes) avec un goût boisé (bourbon) et des notes de vanille. Une dominante maltée de caramel sucré avec des notes de toffee est présente avec un moyen goût d’alcool réchauffant ainsi que des notes de butterscotch et de houblon herbeux.
En bouche : Corps : moyen. Effervescence : moyenne. Texture : légèrement crémeuse. Finale : moyenne-longue, composée d’une légère amertume d’alcool avec un léger résiduel sucré ainsi que des notes boisées et de houblon herbeux.

From a 660 ml bottle shared at home. Pours a clear deep mahogany with an ecru head. Vanilla nose. Flavors of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Smooth, rich finish. Yum

Loin d’être un amateur de bourbon, celle-ci m’a bien plus toutefois. Le bourbon, l’alcool, la vanille et le bois prennent presque toute la place, mise à part une belle touche de malt assez riche. Avec les fromages que nous avions, c’était cochon!
