22 ounce bottle into snifter, 2018 vintage bottling. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, nuts, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, molasses, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, date, smoke, char, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, nuts, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, molasses, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, date, smoke, char, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, nuts, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, light smoke/char/dark fruit, herbal, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 10.2%. Overall this is a fantastic imperial coffee oatmeal stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Amazingly rich malts and balanced fruity/nutty coffee complexity; restrained fruity yeast and light earthy hop balance against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected. Loved the BBA version just a bit more overall.

Bottle @ Steve’s Foco. Thanks Steve! Black appearance with a thin brown head. Coconut, dark chocolate, sweet caramel in the aroma. Moderately sweet with some heat. Chocolate brownies, coconut, bourbon, and brown sugar flavor. A little boozy but otherwise nice.

This is my first beer from this brewery. Someone brought it to our party, so at the end of the night and now have a nice new beer to rate. 22oz bottle pours into an 8oz nonic glass. Aroma is strong fumy dry black malts and cocoa. The coffee is almost just malts so, not heavy handed, which I like. The alcohol is present and comes off as liquor cocoa candy. Body is lighter but coats the tongue. Has a mineral, lightly abrasive feel. Again alcohol cocoa with a drying bitter finish. Basically, well attenuated but plenty of strong flavors, lots of cocoa, and malt bitterness. Coffee is subtly added. A little too much alcohol and too much bitterness. But decent in small doses. The price tag was almost $11, which is way too much.
