Very hazy orange and copper coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of yeast, alcohol, wheat, curacao, caster sugar, a hint of honey and some very light fruit - nice and pungent all at the same time! Medium-bodied; Assertive hoppy flavour at first with some good wheat and yeast tastes, some mild fruit flavours and a hint of hay and grassiness. Aftertaste shows a good blend of yeast, malt and sugars with a bit of strength on the yeast and wheat tastes. Overall, a nice beer with a complex profile and some solid tastes throughout. Great to try of course, and surprising that I couldn’t find this in Portland on two separate trips, but I could find it in Alaska! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Northern Lights Blvd), Alaska for US$5.99 on 22-May-2013 sampled in my hotel room in Valdez, Alaska on 24-May-2013.

Bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice light citrus and a touch of light fruits with backing sweet grains and Belgian yeast. Flavor has a good amount of floral and sweet grains with a light underlying citrus.

22 oz bomber courtesy of bvc. The pour is a hazy golden yellow with a 1/2 inch white head that falls quickly. The aroma is sweet fruit, Belgian yeast, and some lingering straw and hay. The taste is the sweet fruit of the nose along with a lemon peel lightly bitter character, and the Belgian yeast in the finish. The finish also features a dry mineral hay. The palate is medium bodied, a lower carbonation level, and yeast and straw and fruit in long finish. Thanks Brandon.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours orange gold with a foamy/creamy off-white head. Aroma has NW hop and a hint of sweatsox. This is a very nice aroma. Med body or better. The best thing - there’s a lot of earth/sweatsox at the start. Then it gets fruity and bitter. With some NW hop. This is amazing stuff. My tongue is feeling barnyard while there’s fresh fruit still. Frickin brilliant ale. If I had the skill, it’s the beer I’d make. Now I just had a mint choc stout, but that was good, so I don’t think this is a relief rate. The aroma and flavor are to die for. Individual parts of the numbers don’t qualify for high, but the overall does. It’s greater than the sum of its rating parts. :)

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Cloudy blond color, with creamy head. The aroma is very mild, at least it’s a bit spicy. Good flavor, malt, with a quite strong spicy character and delicate fruitiness; the mouthfeel is very smooth; strong bitterness too.
Quite close to a real Belgian, a bit more fruity and bitter than the average.

On tap at Bailey's Taproom, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of hay, barnyard funk, and toasted bread. Flavour of barnyard funk, hay and wheat. Really flavourful, wild and funky. Really well-done BPA.
