Bottle drunk Spring 2015.
Pours a clear, dark chestnut with auburn highlights and a dark beige head that shows low retention.
Smells like raspberry. Just like Vinland Two, it's amazing how much fruit character you get just from the fruit yeast, despite there being no actual fruit in this. A bit of light lactic and very light acetic acid are noted, as well, with a pretty sparse malt character of cracker and biscuit. Seemingly very high attenuation as with Two. No alcohol or flaw, but not exactly getting too much other than the strong raspberry character.
Same with the flavor. The beer is fine showing good attenuation and a reasonably soft, malty texture, but it's just full of raspberry and moderate lactic acidity which don't lead to much interesting character. Moderate, somewhat loose carbonation and a good deal of wateriness. Obviously a saison in malt character only and here it even has medium malts (which don't really add too much toast or anything, thankfully). More of a novelty really, like the other entries in the series, despite it being a fun idea.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber red with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of slightly tart musty red fruits and a bit of earthy grains backing. Flavor is full of stale bread with some earthy grains and a touch of hay.

750 ml bottle I purchased at Kappy’s. Dear god, I lost track of this one, been sitting over a year now. Darker brown in color with almost no head. Aroma is a bit different: earthy malts, caramel, mild raspberries and just a hint of yeast.
Flavor comes off as sweet with the lightest sour note in the back of the sip. The "Berry" comes off more sour or funky rather then tart. Caramel and earthy grain with the yeast strain does make this very interesting. Sugar is notable. Almost to much malt and honestly I don’t know if this sitting helped or hurt it. Perhaps hurt it, hard to know.

Starker, dennoch weich karbonisierter Antrunk. Malzige, leider schnell schwächer werdende Noten. Rund, mittellanger Nachgeschmack. Gutes Dunkles. 12/11/11/11/11/11

Bottle from the brewery. Huge pop from uncorking and even a gentle pour produces a glass mostly full of foam. After she settles I’m left with a fairly clear tawny liquid beneath a huge frothy tan head that takes its sweet time allowing me to taste this brew. Lightly sugary maltiness with a requisite spicy Belgian yeasty flair to it. Faint raspberry, or is that the power of suggestion at work? The flavor feel like a brown ale with some light caramel, sugar and chocolate malty notes with a bit of a fruity spicy edge to it. Bump up the abv, add some spices and you’d have a winter warmer. Medium to thin body with a spirited level of carbonation that leaves the mouthfeel a bit too bubbly for my tastes. I liked Vinland 2 a whole lot more. This is a decent beer but it didn’t wow me.

Bottle in hotel room while wasting time until sleep. Pours surprising dark clear brown with fine one beige head. Nose is tobacco and dried fruit. Tastes of tobaccos, some cocoa, light raspberry, dark cherry, and barnyard. Is this a saison not sure but a subdued tastiness that I enjoyed more as bottle dwindled.

Brattleboro Coop: pours brown with a short lived beige head. Aroma is malty and very yeasty. Taste is a wee bit tart. It is plenty malty... Perhaps too malty as some have intimated. Subtle, but not overly complex. Still nice.

Pours deep mahogany into a Trappist glass. Frothy brown head recedes leaving sheet lacing. Sweet nutmeg and dark pit fruit aromas. Thick with milk chocolate and dried fruit upfront turning dry and sour before the lasting bitter chocolate finish. Interesting .. more like a Belgian Strong than a Saison...
