Bottle at the brewpub, vintage 2011, 1 year old, 10.5% ABV
Dark mahogany color, creamy head. Caramel and malt aroma, a bit nutty and oxidized. Lean body, semi sweet flavor of caramel, touch of roasted malt, roasted nuts, light oxidisation; alcohol perception well managed. Good (but in the shade of the V.S.O.P.).

From tap at the brewpub, 2011, 10%. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma is smooth roasted malty and light breadish. Sweet caramelish, light fruity and mild alcohol warming. Smooth alcohol and dense malty into the finish.

I think I had this at PINT Winterbierfestival Gouda 2011, but I’m not entirely sure. The beer was named De Pelgrim Winterbier Licht and had 8%ABV according to the information I got. Anyway.. Nice dark brown / dark red color. Good firm carbo and a decent body. Smell reminds me of wine and port and taste is fair.

On tap at ’t Arendsnest, ABV 9.2%, according to the Pelgrim website 9.5%. Slightly hazy deep reddish amber brown colour, off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, some caramel, a bit of spice and lots of alcohol. Flavour is basically the same, it’s fairly alcoholic, and a bit thin and watery in flavours. Light to medium bodied. Uninteresting beer imo.
