Nice crisp deep copper and light brown coloured body with a definite ruby glow and a smallish one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, toasted malt, tons of nuts, earth and a lot of malt bitterness. Medium-bodied; Rich toasted malt notes with the toffee, caramelised sugars and earth right behind. All with a touch of cherry and pit fruit flavours noticeable and a very light metallic twang near the end. Aftertaste shows a well rounded character of mostly caramel and toasted malt notes with a small bitterness and a sweet finish. Overall, a nice dunkles with a robust character and a rich toasted malt finish - well balanced and nice for the style! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York, New York (Bowery) on 25-April-2014 for US$6.99 sampled at home in Washington on 09-June-2014.
This is quality. Nice malty flavor.

Taster at Standard Market. Dunkel brown beer with the cluster of leggy white fuzz on the surface. My sinuses are not letting me catch much nose today, so I can’t weigh in on that. The taste is dark and bready, not much of the extra spicy ester that sometimes comes with the style. A bit of the bite that seems to come from yeast still in the glass. Or it adds to a "savory" edge. Yet it’s dry without much hop in evidence, and it starts to go down the hatch pretty easily.
