In celebration of our 30th Anniversary, we’re excited to bring back YuleSmith! This Double Red IPA balances caramel and toasted malts with big citrus and pine hop notes. A winter warmer that’s perfect for the season.

Hazy brown with medium light brown head. Aroma is pine cone, toffee, grapefruit. Very hoppy fresh and complex. Taste is heavy malty sweetness and resiny bitterness. Medium finish. Heavy mouthfeel and quite oily. Clogs your throat. Good.

Rating #2600. Bottle. Amber-red color with tan head. Aroma is piney, toffee, caramel, grapefruit. Taste is more toffee, bitter grapefruit, piney. Heavy body, slight booze kick in the back, some cough syrup. Low carbonation. Very good, and indeed a Winter version of a Double IPA.

Kirkas, tumman kuparinen olut, joka vaahtoaa kohtalaisen reilusti. Ei jätä juurikaan pitsiä. Tuoksu jenkkimäiseen tyyliin hyvin pihkaisen havuisesti humaloitu. Samoin havaittavissa makeampaa karamellisuutta.

The new incarnation of the famed Winter Yulesmith. At BeerTemple, shared by Jasper of Arendsnest, cheers! Cobweb lacing, pale greyish white head over a hazy burgundy coloured beer with deep vermillion red glow. Aroma of pink grapefruit, candied orange, hazelnut, sweet onion, pink pepper, biscuit, wormwood. Restrained and well-placed sweetishness in the mouth surrounded by a light umami edge, spritzy carbo, smooth and resinous caramelly and nutty malt body, long hoppy finish providing gentle bitterness as well as pleasant piney and grapefruit effects retronasally. Another AleSmith beauty, not far removed from their My Bloody Valentine.

Pronounced caramel nose, toffee on the edges. Clear chestnut, huge orange head, excellent retention, good lacing. Caramel, chestnut, wood. Subtle coffee finish. Rich, but somewhat quaffable. Grass and orange peel bitterness is there but it’s dominated by the bold maltiness. Medium body, soft carbonation, mild alcohol warmth appears upon warming. Not terribly hop forward, drinks more like an ESB on steroids, but falls short of being an old ale or barleywine. An older bottle to be sure with little hop presence to warrant an Imperial IPA classification, but still a delight to drink. It’s probably amazing fresh.

Tap at Klooster. Hazy warm brown amber with offwhite head. Smells of dried fruit. Caramel, toffee and marijuana-like hops up front, oatmeal, malty, dried fruit, licorice, resin, faint note of coffee as well. Medium sweet, under medium bitter. Smooth full, oily body, sweet at the core and bitter at the edges. A little sherrylike boozy note pops up from time to time. Fizzy sparkly mild carbonation. Great stuff.
