Can from Whole Foods in Folsom, CA. Pours clear dark brown with a creamish tan head. Smoke in the aroma. Near medium body. It is very smoky. There's clearly malt in support, but not enough to render this ale undry. It's almost astringent. Heavy smokiness.

Brewdog Sheps Bush. Keg. Opaque black - brown beer, good cream colour head. Palate is smooth, just modest fine carbonation. A light tang in the dark malts, some mild creamy sweetness. Some tea! Fruity tea. Mild floralness. Light dry finish. Off centre but okay.

Keg at BD Sheppy B. It pours darkest brown with a medium light beige head. The nose is rich, oily, bitter-sweet, smokey, hotdogs, dark fruits, jammy fruits, earthy, wood, savoury, light floral, plum, earthy roast and some durian on the back end. The taste is soft, bitter-sweet, earthy, smokey, meaty, dark fruits, roasted malt, date, plum, durian, twig, leather and spice rub with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Bizarre, yet somehow comes together. Decent.
