Believed to have originated from Edinburgh in the 1800s, the brewing of Scotch ales is now more of a focus for the US craft brewers than for those in its homeland. This beer, however, is a distillation of all that is good in Scotland. A liquid fruit cake with a malty foundation and a rich spice finish, this will fill your palate and astound you for minutes as you unlock the multi-layers of flavour.
A blinding pairing with roast lamb and equally good with a dram of Glenmorangie Lasanta.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color - almost black - with a large creamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was malty, toasty and woody with some dark fruit. The flavor was toasty and woody with caramel, honey, molasses and a bit of dark fruit. Long finish. Medium bodied and smooth. Solid.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Clear amber/brown body with a medium beige head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of Frazzles, nuts and earth. Flavour of caramel, roasted malt, plum and butterscotch. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Really well balanced. A luxurious treat.
