In 2014 the distinct dutch beerstyle ‘Kuitbier’ was reborn. It is characterized by the use of large amounts of oat malt. We brewed it according to the style guidelines, but added some Saaz dry hops after fermentation with lager yeast.

Hazy pale golden colour, small frothy white head, half-way lasting, light lacing. Citrusy nose, aroma lemon, wheat, lemon grass, yeast. Taste light sweet, lemony, wheaty light sweetbitter aftertaste, bit chalky. Light body, watery texture, soft carbonation, fresh and pleasant, okay.

A mixture of malt and hop aroma, herbs notes. Very big head, cloudy pale yellow color. Light to medium sweet, light bitter, hints of citrus sour. Lively carbonation, a bit thin.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Gall&Gall Houten. Hazy light yellow with a white head. Earthy aroma with some grassy and citrussy hops. Taste is sweet, with that wheat creamy mouthfeel. Missing the oats taste/sensation though. Nice enough but not spectacular.

33cl bottle. Pale lemon yellow with a thin white head. Smells like grains, lemon, hay, yeast. The taste follows the same notes, with some additional perfumey roses and honey. Medium bodied, medium carbonation and a bitter-sweet and refreshing aftertaste.

Sampled from tap at the brewpub. Slightly hazy, pale straw yellow with a white head. A little fruity, slightly grainy aroma of lemongrass, oats and straw. Sweetish, slightly fruity, a little grainy and spicy taste of lemongrass, ginger, straw and oats, followed by a short, slightly bitter finish. Thin to medium body, slightly fizzy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay.

Bier Temple, Amsterdam. Keg. Hazy gold beer, frothy pale cream colour head. Palate is very airy. Light dry floralness does indeed lead to a subtle soapy note, but really not unpleasant. Whisper of dry spice segues to mild citric orange. Dry finish. Interesting!
