Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre tall light brown head that stays afloat for a good while and leaves a subtle lace on the sides. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, a light dose of cream and vanilla with some more noticeable molasses and brewed coffee notes, but the chocolate in the nose is the strongest. Medium-bodied; Pretty rich, chocolatey and earthy malt flavours dominate here with a lot of vanilla and cream with some strong biscuity and malt notes that bring out the rustic nutty flavours at the end. Aftertaste shows a nice balance of the roasted malt, coffee, nuts and sugars here that blend well and are quite pungent, especially for the relatively low alcohol content. Overall, a very nice real stout that is slightly dry, but very malty, but the combination of cream, chocolate and sugars here blends well with the rest of the beer and finishes nicely, albeit deep and robust, sort of what you want for the season! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Cary (Crossroads Boulevard), North Carolina on 30-May-2021 for US$3,79 sampled at my house here in Washington on 13-November-2022.

10 week old can A: Brown/black pour with 1/2 of thick dark tan head. Short retention but a lasting ring and leggy lace. S: Sweetish aroma of milk chocolate, cocoa powder and coffee. T: Bitter and roasty with cocoa coming through, providing light sweetness. Faint plummy stone fruit tartness lingers M: Smooth texture, soft but lively carbonation and sticky finish. O: Good flavor balance here. Some roast, some sweet, some fruit...Not too strong. I like it.

On tap at Gizmo, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and some light earthy undertones. Flavour is rather earthy and muddy, with toasted malt and light earthiness. Dirty and lacking character. Not too well-dialed in.

On tap at gizmo. Roasty aroma on top of a big black looking beer. Fairly mild and well behaved. From the start I liked this one. You’d never know it was 6%! It hides the alky very well. A friendly easy going example of what stout should be. Nice job giz.
