Not a ray of light penetrates the soul of this beer. Combining the roasted malt backbone of a Porter with a huge amount of earthy and citrusy hops typical in many IPA’s, this unique ale will leave you questioning its identity and maybe yours.

Can. Black body with a frothy beige head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, caramel, citrus, earthiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Light sourness in the finish. Taste of roast and hop bitterness, Some earthy notes. Good balance.

Found this can upon my return to the in-laws this holiday season. I must have left it here last time we were in town. I won’t dock it points if it tastes a bit old. Black with a deep tan head. Cocoa, resinous hops, coffee, earthy, light citrus beyond the rest. Medium bodied. Dry, harshly bitter finish. A nice BIPA. STILL, I’m glad this fade seems to have passed us by.

Sample at the Big Tap In on 05/31/2014. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing. Roast malt, chocolate and hops in the nose. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, roasted coffee and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
