On tap at Ballast Point - Miramar, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is rich, with big bourbon barrel notes, plenty of vanillin, and molasses. Flavour is rich and smooth, with plenty of vanillin from the base beer, opened up by the bourbon barrels, and a moderately sweet malt base. Nice barrel aging, with a very smooth, silky mouthfeel. Excellent.

Bottle. A- Oak, whisky, chocolate, mocha. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Whisky, chocolate, mildly sweet. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Very good beer. I do regret we held on to this for so long. At 5 years old, it did hold up but I know this would be stellar fresh. Lots of whisky presence and a fair amount of chocolate. No coffee or vanilla and I did hope to get some of that but really nothing to complain about. Any complaints would be from cellaring a bit too long.

On tap at the Beer Baron. It pours a dark brown color with a foamy light brown head. The aroma is sweet with wood, vanilla and a little coffee. Tiramisu? The flavor is nice and rich with some fudge, smoke, coffee and bourbon. Full bodied and the alcohol is noticeable before a smoky, lightly roasted finish. Pretty darn good, but not my favorite variant in this series.

750ml bottle thanks to darrel. Pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is amazing big vanilla bourbon barrel notes chocolate heavy roast and a nice spice. Taste is more of the amazing vanilla chocolate bourbon barrel sweetness. Wow this is great in just whish I had another one to open in a year.
